I just came across this from a Vietnamese news site and it’s quite interesting. Searched it up on google and it’s something that’s gaining attention from the Press. Diane is a junior in high school, with straight As, enrolled in Honor/AP classes. But that’s the stereotypical Asian girl right, but there are more to it , she also has 2 jobs to support her siblings because her parents are divorced and work far away from home. With no doubt, she’s too tired to go to school and missing out on 10 days are more in school within 6 months (unexcused) violated Texas Law. Therefore, she was sentence by a judge to a fine of 100 dollars and 24 hrs in jail.
Personally, I feel that the judge should have look more into this case and try to understand the situation better. Sentencing her to jail will only increase the stresses that she is already dealing with. Rather why not offer her other alternatives, show her scholarships or something of that sort to help her and the family out. Aiming for a long term solution rather using this scaring tactic because in the end when one is desperate they will have to do what they need to do to survive…

This is kind of interesting because as I read some of the lines a different friend would fit so perfectly with the description.

Mommy, brother, his wifey and me ( or I for those who are strict with grammar ) at Krung Thai near Valley Fair. I hope mom was happy today, I think she was. We went to watch The Avengers, I think mom really enjoy that. Although we were too full to get her favorite mango dessert at the restaurant we went to Karaoke instead ! She wasn’t able to find that many songs from her generation but she was a trooper singing all the modern, depressing Viet songs with us youngsters. Should have made her drink more Heineken at the restaurant then maybe she would have got up and dance or so I wish xD.
